Entertainment Reviews:
Rating: 2.5/4 --
It is essentially Revenge of the Nerds, with fur. And scales. And whatever gooey, gelatinous substance comprises the outer coating of various other oddball creatures in this crazy parallel world.

The excellent storytelling and pathos Pixar is so celebrated for is missing - and the film suffers as a result.

Behind The Lens
Rating: 2/5 --
It's not that Monsters University lacks any of the heart or wit of Pixar's finest achievements - the attention to detail and sight gags are as impressive as ever - but narratively speaking this is derivative in the extreme.

Little White Lies
4 stars out of 5 -- Dazzlingly clever and hugely funny, it succeeds both as a broadening of the MONSTERS universe and as a film in its own right.
Empire
[T]he animators lovingly recreate the dusty, shadowy ambience of ancient lecture halls, the cramped chaos of dorm life, and the bustle and sprawl of an evergreen campus.
A.V. Club
Rating: 2.5/4 --
A decent enough way to pass the time, but it pales in comparison to the modern classics that Pixar has delivered before.

Product Description:
Take a trip back in time to when star Monsters, Inc. employees Mike Wazowski (voice of Billy Crystal) and James P. "Sulley" Sullivan (voice of John Goodman) were just two promising young students at Monsters University in this frightfully fun Disney/Pixar prequel. Long before they were lurking in closets for a living, Mike and Sulley were just two Scaring majors at Monsters University, dreaming of the day they would make children shriek in terror. When their heated competition to be the most fearsome in their class gets out of hand, however, Mike and Sulley find themselves ejected from the prestigious Scare Program, and they are forced to seek the aid of their oddball friends in order to get their education back on track. Dan Scanlon (TRACY) takes the directorial reigns for this prequel featuring additional vocal contributions by Steve Buscemi, Dave Foley, and Julia Sweeney.
